Four Musical Acts Take the Stage During Downtown Hayward’s Sounds of Summer Series in AUGUST
The Downtown Hayward Business Improvement District (BID)’s music series doesn’t miss a beat as it continues its summer-long Sounds of Summer music series in August. Featuring four unique musical acts offering a genre variety and exceptional talent, performances are scheduled every Wednesday through August from 3 – 5 p.m. Shows are staged at the corner of Second & Main Streets, with alternate indoor locations identified in case of inclement weather. “We’ve enjoyed seeing families stop by to listen, dance a little and simply enjoy the talent that calls our region home,” says James Netz, president of the Downtown Hayward BID Board and owner of James Netz Photography, Video and DJ. “We hope this musical surprise helps make memories of Downtown Hayward that last throughout this season and all year ‘round.”
Aug. 6 – Moss Creek
Dave Berard, Ken Marienfeld, and Jon Hamilton convey a unique, soulful mix of Country, Rockabilly, Americana & Blues, from well-known classics to esoteric “B” sides — always something interesting.

Aug. 13 – Friday in the Gazebo
This Cable-based 3-piece band plays music every “Boomer” knows from Johnny Cash favorites to the Beatle’s Yellow Submarine, along with a few Irish tunes.

Aug. 20 – Good Medicine
Good Medicine fittingly got its name as the group began as talented care facility workers who came together to entertain. The Hayward-based group includes Carol Sheehan on vocals, fiddle and guitar; Pete Heisler on bass, and Scott McKenzie on banjo and guitar – all playing 50s to gospel bluegrass to country & more.

Aug. 27 – Marlee Paine
Marlee Paine is a 12 year old self-taught singer-songwriter from Stone Lake, WI who first picked up a guitar in the summer of 2023. In two short years she has opened for Ricky Skaggs at Big Top Chautauqua, won Big Top Junior Idol, and was a featured performer in the first Park Center Artist Showcase.
